On the top of intu Eldon Square shopping centre is Eldon Leisure and it is home to huge climbing centre Vertigo.
According to the Better Leisure website, Vertigo is a fun packed, exhilarating experience at Eldon Leisure Centre.
Featuring 19 climbing towers, Vertigo should appeal to families and friends of all ages from aged four years and above.
Sessions start on the hour and last for 90 minutes, which includes a compulsory briefing and all climbers being kitted up for their climb, then 60 minutes of climbing.
Vertigo, featuring the North East’s largest ‘bouldering’ climbing wall is open seven days a week. Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible person aged 16 or over.
Six week climbing courses, training and casual climbing activities are available for all ages and abilities.
There is also a Children’s Climbing Club at Vertigo.
The club is on Saturdays from 10am to 12pm (8-15yrs) and is fully supervised by qualified instructors for novice and intermediate climbers. No previous climbing experience is required. New climbers are always welcome
