South Norfolk Climbing Wall
SOUTH NORFOLK CLIMBING CLUB INVITE YOU TO COME AND CELEBRATE THIS UNIQUE COMMUNITY FACILITY
South Norfolk Climbing Club in partnership with Morley Village and Sports Hall have built a superb new state-of-the-art climbing wall. It is constructed by Entre-Prises UK – the world leader in the creation of custom climbing walls, and will be the only indoor wall in South Norfolk, with 12 lines, a 1.6m overhang, tufa climb, belay ledge and lead climbing, it will offer routes to challenge all levels of ability.
The Morley Wall is located in Morley near Wymondham with easy access off the A11 and is opening its doors to the public for the first time on 7 May from 2pm to 7pm for a fun Family Open Day which will include free climbing taster sessions and a pop-up cafe! The news comes a year after the announcement of the closure of the outdated climbing wall at Wymondham Leisure Centre. South Norfolk Council have helped bring this exciting project to fruition by providing a substantial grant alongside a successful bid from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Funding.
Uniquely, the wall is managed by the local community, for the local community with the formation of South Norfolk Climbing Club, a charity set up by a passionate group of experienced climbers, highly qualified instructors and parents promoting:
- safe climbing practice through professional tuition
- casual climbing sessions
- Social climbing opportunities
- Family Friendly atmosphere
George Freeman MP, who will be officially launching the new wall at an opening ceremony on Friday 6 May, said:
“After a significant investment by Sport England, the South Norfolk Climbing Club at Morley Village Hall has been given a state of the art indoor climbing facility and I am really looking forward to opening this facility in a few weeks’ time.”
